The Northern Districts Cricket Foundation was launched today at Seddon Park during the BLACKCAPS ODI vs Sri Lanka. The Foundation has been established as the charitable arm of Northern Districts (ND).

The Foundation has been developed to deliver tailored projects to enhance the future for people of the Northern Districts region, aligning with ND’s purpose statement: Connecting People, Creating Memories.

The main areas of focus for the ND Foundation are: Women in Cricket, Diversity and Cultural Inclusion, Facilities, and Alumni.

The Foundation aims to enable cricket for all in the region, in particular focussing on Māori, Pasifika and other ethnic communities. It will also place a strong priority on projects and initiatives for women and girls, and the development of the next generation of female cricketers through improved pathways and a clear roadmap to equal investment and opportunity.

An experienced and diverse group of leaders has been appointed to steer the Foundation. The Board of Trustees includes Brandi Hudson, Victoria Taylor, Grant Lander, Brent Harvey and Ben MacCormack.

MacCormack sees the establishment of the Foundation as one of his proudest achievements as ND CEO. “We are extremely pleased to put this foundation together, serving ND’s purpose of being a game for all” he said during the launch at Seddon Park.

He added, “With your help the foundation will also be able to achieve its desired outcomes of bringing the cricket community together with a focus on developing cricket facilities and infrastructure within our region and increasing awareness of the accessibility of cricket and supporting the local cricket communities.”

The Foundation is currently seeking expressions of interest for donations. Please contact Ben MacCormack for more information by emailing [email protected]
